Pq motor

Ups charged 23.00 to ship from ky to sc. The shipping weight was 43 lbs. I found a box that had been used for vegetables, I had some egg crate material that came from a printer box some news papers and packed it tight in the box, then I put that box in a larger box more like a banker box used to store files. Used a roll and half of packing tape and half a roll of duct tape. I sure hope it makes it safely.
To take it off I took the basket off, that made it very easy to remove the wires and upper bolts. I jacked up the rear used jack stands and got the bottom. The rope sure helped when sliding the motor off the rear end. I will use a ratchet strap on the install.

I have sent a few motors to PQ. The first time i packed it real good, when they sent it back in their custom purple box, i saved that box and reuse to send the next one to them.

As far as removing the precedent motor, gotta say it shouldn't take more than 30 minutes tops. After flipping tow switch, disconnecting battery positive and negative, remove the rear access panel, unhook the 4 motor wires, and 4 bolts. Next i take a battery cable and fasten it finger tight on 2 of the motor studs. I use this as a handle, as i rock the motor back and forth and out. When it comes out, i lower it to the floor and pull it out from under the cart.

I've had great results using a plastic wedge to get the motor to loosen
Then I take a leather belt and loop around center of motor and
Use this as a guide handle to pull right out .

My knee went out on me and I have to stay off the golf course a few days, seemed like a good time to do the upgrade.

That dang thing is heavy when you are an old man. I tied a rope around it and to the basket frame. Glad I did it still almost hit the concrete floor. I think I will use a ratchet strap to reinstall. The shaft and bolts will get anti seize.

I noticed in your signature you have a code 5 will that work with PQ motor?

Also when I remove the motors I stack about a foot of towels under the motor and let it fall with my hands still holding the motor takes most of the pain out.

The code 5 thing is what i am wondering about myself. It gives me the 24-25 mph on level ground. The pq motor is supposed to give more speed on the code 3 setting. I can't wait to see how all this works out. My guess is the speed will not change much but the torque should be the big improvement.

Well I got home from golf course today and found a purple box on my deck.
I now have a plumb quick cart.

The code 5 thing worked out just fine. Here are the before and after test I ran.
This is on my roads around the house here. First the slightly down hill before was 24-25 now it is 28-29 mph back up that same road was 18-20 now 24-25, another hill going up behind my house was 12 now 15. I still have my roll away braking. Good thing. I have not nor will I ever hold the pedal down going down a steep hill. I fear it would sling everything apart.

If I ever sell or trade the cart I will set the speed back to code 3. I may do that in a few days just to see what happens.

I did tell the guys at plumb quick I had speed code 5 and they build my motor to match it I guess. I am very happy with it at this point.

Is that a wiring harness you bought from sc?

It is a programmer that resets the speed controller. On a stock cart I went from code 3 at 15 mph to code 5 and about 23-24 mph. I think it just takes the limits off the motor rpm part in the controller. I'm sure there is more to it than that but that is a start.

Did you buy his "programmer", or pay someone to do it?

No I bought it I can use it on any cart I have that has the same system. I can only use it on one cart at a time however. In the next few days I am going to change my cart to the torque mode and see how it does. Also I will try the stock code 3. I think I have the best of all right now because the guys at Pq build my motor knowing I had the code 5.
