Scooter, I was thinking about putting my speakers wehre you did but cart is gas and I was concerned about heat.

If you purchase the cover that surface mounts, that should work out but may require some trimming on the cover, they are all a little different. I'm going to try that route this week. (I'm not in a big hurry to cover since mine lives in the garage and I don't do much off roading, so there won't be a lot of washing with the hose)

I can't really speak on that, I don't know how hot the gassers get under the seat. Most of the marine speakers should hold up fairly well with high heat, but I don't know how much is too much.

The cover has no effect on the size of the hole cut. You simply need to leave the face of the head unit raised about 3/8" from the surface of the dash. The cover simply screws to the dash over the top of the unit.
