Precedent wiring accessory battery
I just install my precedent light kit. For now I hooked it to the blue wire lead on battery #4. I don't want to damage this battery so I am going to get a small 35ah battery to install in the dash. I don't want a converter. I just want every thing separated fron the battery pack.
I want put an accessory battery in the front dash area to power my lights. Do I cut the blue wire out of the harness to connect the accessory battery? Where should I run the ground from the accessory battery? Just needing some input on how others made their wire connections. Thanks |

Re: Precedent wiring accessory battery
just extend the blue wire in the wiring harness to the aux battery positive and negative to a ground in the wiring harness
put in a in-line fuse |

So I need to extend the blue wire in the wire harness that stubs out in the OBC area. Extend it all the way to the front.
I was hoping the blue wire already ran to the front and I could just cut/tap it up there to avoid running a power wire to the rear connection. i will just tap a ground from the harness in the dash area. |

Re: Precedent wiring accessory battery
yes tap the ground .. the reason why i say to run a wire to the blue wire by the ocb is if you tap in to blue wire in dash area you have to make sure it is before the light switch
also if you add horn or other 12v stuff you know harness is powered |

Ok, I understand, it's better to power the entire harness so all accessory a that use the harness get power.
I plan to use a 12 hour trickle charger to charge the smaller battery. I have two of them and can swap and keep the spare charged. Going to use a Velcro strap to hold the battery down in the dash. Wing nuts fur the terminals for quick removal. |
