Default '78 de 40 speed board

hello and thank you for your time. i have a 78 de 40 and the speed board has turend "crispy" and needs replaced. the problem im having is i can only find the earlier board wich has five holes insted of the six holes that the current board has. when i took the board off to look at it the fifth and sixth studs were tied togather with a thin flat ribbon jummper. is this correct? and is the sixth stud just an over run for the wipper? will it hurt anything to use the five hole board?

thanks again

kenny
