Default Best fluids to use on FE290 Rear-End fluid change

Hi All,

I am going to, for the first time, change the fluids in the rear of my 1995 DS. I have been researching and can't find the best fluids to use (reg., synthetic, weight, etc.). I believe I will have the 2 separate reservoirs since it is a pre-1997 in which they were combined.

1) What type should I use?
2) any trick to it or really as easy as it seems.....drain fluid and replace?

Thanks as always...this is the best site for golf cart info!

p.s. I did see the posts about how to change it and they were helpful on the actual process.

The drain plug is on the very bottom of the case and the fill plug is above it. As far as fluid goes its either 80w90 gear oil or 30 wt. motor oil.

Thx GCF. That is just for the tranny though...right? The drive takes the 30 wt and the tranny gets the 80w90...or can they both take either.

appreciate it!
