g16 yamaha cart wont start up
This cart starts up every now and then messing with the throttle pedal, once in a blue moon, its got voltage everywhere to and from wondering if it could be the micro-switch that runs the forward and reverse or the ignition switch.

Try jumping the stop start switch under the floor board to what is amiss.

Re: g16 yamaha cart wont start up
the way to check the starter brushes is,, hold the key on and lightly tap the starter with a hammer,, if it chugs its the brushes,, 25 bucks, and you can put them in yourself''.. the other thing i would check,, there is a plug together , about 1 foot from the gas pedal, that goes to the switch at the pedal. years ago mine was bad,, its hidden in some tape,, mine was green with corrosion,, i just cut it out and used wire nuts. do these 2 things first;; good luck

Re: g16 yamaha cart wont start up
Yeah right, test it with a hammer, thats the right way to do it. Just be sure you dont accidentally hit one of the 4 easily removable rubber plugs that are there for inspecting/replacing the brushes...

Re: g16 yamaha cart wont start up
cg,, you are right, the best way is to pop the caps and look, i hope its understood only a very light tap,the way i learned this is, one night, my cart stopped at a stop sign, and after a while in the dark, i thought i would tap the starter with a pair of pliers, the cart started and i got home, then with a flash lite, i did pop the caps and saw the brushes were gone, i jes i should of said in an emergency tap,,, thanks for the help'

Re: g16 yamaha cart wont start up
Start switch is actually under the floor or underneath by the gas pedal? I have one right now that it will run every once and a while. It has spark at the plug one second and the next I loose my spark. Hit the pedal once or twice and it will spark again.
