Cool Yamaha G9 runs very hot and blowing white smoke

Hi everyone, I am new to the golf cart world. I just purchased an early to mid 90's G9 gas golf cart. When I got it home it was smoking pretty badly. I checked the oil and it was way over the full mark on the dipstick. In addition there were a few inches of oil inside the air box. Also there was engine oil covering everything in the engine compartment. What a mess, good thing I only paid $150 for it. Anyway I have since drained all of the oil out of it and added just about a quart of 10W30 with an additional shot of Marvels Mystery oil. Also added a little bit of Seafoam to the gas tank which I filled with 93 octane gas. I took the air box of and cleaned it and sprayed the engine compartment with Gunk engine degreaser and hosed it off being careful not to get water into the crankcase or the carb. I did reassemble the air box but I currently dont have a filter in there. I was reading that the system needs to have that air box completely sealed to keep the vacuum for the fuel pump??? It runs but it does seem like power is decreased and there is white smoke coming from muffler. After talking to a few friends I was told to just "run" the crap out of it to try to burn off any oil that probably got into all of the places that it isn't supposed to be. So every day after work I try to drive it around the neighborhood, sometimes it barely smokes other times it is pretty bad. I'd love to hear some of your suggestions. I'm fairly mechanically inclined, I install elevators for a living, but I not to familiar with working on engines. I don't have a compression tester yet, but did check the spark plug and that seemed fairly clean and not fouled. Also after running for few minutes the engine compartment gets extremely hot, is this typical?Thank you!!

Under the seat certainly gets warm, but do check for an exhaust leak which can melt items near the breech.

Need to take plastic air shrouding off and find the source of the oil leak, and stop that. Then only one quart total engine oil.

There is only one quart in there now. When I got it the oil level was way above the max line on the dipstick and the air box had a few inches of oil it
