Default Drive clutch making clunking noise

Wondering if the clunking noise my drive clutch is making is normal for a 85 2 stroke ezgo? It seems to work fine but has a little side to side play that I think is making the noise. Anyway to tighten this?

Also should I be able to push this cart if it is not running? There is no way to push it in forward reverse or if the F-R lever is in the middle. Wondering if my clutch is going or if this is normal?

85 2 stroke ezgo

Thank you.

You will not be able to push the cart without it running, the rear end will turn the engine over and it will be very hard to move.

When do you hear the clunking noise? My guess is you are hearing it when you are coming to a stop and it is releasing. Just a guess though. Take the belt off the driven clutch and start the engine (don't rev the crap out of it you can do serious damage by over-revving), you will be able to get the clutch to engage (compress) and dis-engage (un-compress). Listen for the noise.

There is no way to tighten them up, once they are worn, they're pretty much done as there is no way to overhaul them. Sometimes taking them apart, cleaning and greasing where the slides are helps but it won't tighten it up.

Good luck....

Is this a new cart for you? Most 2 strokers are a little noisey, especially the clutches. Or is this a new noise you are talking about?
