I would think they should be pretty much the same if the snowmobile has a 12 volt system for its lights.

I know this is an old thread but I'm faced with the same issue. I just bought a ezgo limo with a polaris 700 2 stroke and it is pull start. It has 2 batteries in the hood that runs the lights, radio, and the radiator fan. Any way to have a charging system???

Lots more questions to come about this new toy... Thanks for any and all help.

Be aware that a lot of sleds are ac if they did not have a battery.
If so you will need a rectifier. The out put will be weak for a load of
accessories.

Some Snowmobile engines get their ignition spark from a Magneto type of coil, you have to run a wire through a rectifier to change from AC voltage to DC voltage to charge a battery and it will not have alot of charging capacity. Your accessory lights will draw down the battery if you use alot of them at the same time.

The motor came from a polaris 700 xc. The guy "thinks" it was a 2000 model. It had a headlight on it but thats about all I know about the sled. I gotta do some more diggin' for info on the sled before I do all this but I was just curious.

First thing I gotta do is put some 6:1 gears in it. Seems like the low gears are just straining at speeds above 20 or so. Plus I have a over heating issue I'm trying to work on. But I almost have that figured out. Puttin in a radiator from a honda civic. The current rad. is from a yamaha yzf 450.

If the sled did not have electric start or fuel injection it has alternating current.

Ok that answers that. Because I have to pull start the cart and it has 2 carbs. So the headlight on the once running sled worked from the magneto? Meaning it probably got brighter with acceleration..

I really need to get some pics, I'm working on it. But the cart is at my buddy's house. We were supposed to swap the radiators today but he got sick...

Speaking of the carbs.. One of the cone K&N filters fell off of the carb the first time I rode it. Now I need to find another filter to fit it. arghhhh............
