G9 crack where oil drain plug screws in
I just bought a 93' Yamaha G9 changing the oil I notice a crack where the drian plug screws in. I goes all the up the threads. I assume this isn't suposed to be there. Is there anything I can do besides use teflon tape to help prevent any oil leaking?

It sounds like a taperd pug was screwed in?
Maybe find a flanged bolt with a gasket? Maybe a repair oil pan plug from the super parts store. |

I don't know if they make a helicoil that size or not but i would find out and seal it up with rtv and put it in their and just use the center thread of the coil for your new plug location only down side would be it may take longer to drain the oil but your only taking a quart any way.

I would take it to a machine shop, weld it up, drill it out, and retap if it were mine.
Does it run good? |

Not sure if it is long enough to get past the bottom of the crack but might be worth checking out. Only caution would be as you tighten it, it expands and might open the crack up more. |

The crack is all the way through, Weld and re-tap or top that bad boy off all the time. Either way you will need a new case eventually...
