Drive clutch?
I am looking at the parts around my clutch. The clutch is WORKING as I put the cart on blocks and it all moves fine, But I think I am seeming some slippage/performance issues and am new to this type of mechanism.
Some of the "performance kits" come with a new Sheave.... In these picks are the smooth surfaces (arrows) the sheaves? are these included in the perf kits/ replaceable? I am interested because if I look at the surface closest to the motor... there seems to be a BIG DIP/Groove in it. See second photo. |

Re: Drive clutch?
If those are holes worn in the sheaves, I would not drive the car till you replace the clutch.
Please go read and look at the pictures in this thread: 04' won't start? Its by "teaser Too" date 4/24/11. Its on page 2. Bad clutch explosion! Shrapnel went through the muffler, yes through the muffler! If you were sitting on the seat when that let go! Well, you'd weigh a little more! We need to take that to heart. I've drove mine about 2 months with holes in both clutches. I won't again! |

Re: Drive clutch?
Yes, actually the "fixed", stationary shieve........I guess that would make the other a moveable shieve??? Always called it the clutch face.

Re: Drive clutch?
That is wear, dirt and dust really speeds it up. We wore a set through the secondary actually fell off and the cart stopped, lol, it was funny. He just kept driving it around it was shredding the belt. But that one the one half was steel and fine, so I put new primary moving sheave on and bought a cut secondary sheave it was all like new then. The primary had holes in it but webbing is pretty heavy in it not sure how it could break. It was cheaper than buying new clutch to put the parts in both. (secondary is the big clutch on the trans, primary on engine.)
You can put the clutch on a lathe and cut them straight again but if they are thin then its pointless. You can get parts for most of them. Cut sheave works great for a lower gear, but if its not lifted might not need one. Note that dish in the sheave will cause it to not shift correctly. Often they will not get the belt all the way to the top for top speed, in lifted carts. |

Note how in the photo the belt is frayed like it might have had holes in it. Also there is no webbing in there broke off like the G9 clutch has...whatever that clutch is I'm only assuming a yami roller. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-y...ont-start.html |
