Motor Removal?
I'm sending my electric motor from a '93 CC out for reworking. I've never removed a motor before. But having tussled with a rear differential on a '68 Chevy some years ago, I learned that it's not as simple as it looks.
Is it really as simple as removing the bolts and sliding it out? Can I expect parts to fall out when I do it? Do I need to lubricate it when it is reinstalled? Would someone who has done this be so kind as to explain the removal and installation process for me? |

Re: Motor Removal?
Sure....Unbolt the 4 cables, unbolt the motor, slip it off the shaft and pull it out. It's that easy. Install is just the reverse. Mark your cables where they go. Use some masking tape and a marker to mark them.

Re: Motor Removal?
I just pulled my 96CC motor. Jacked up the car and worked from the floor==I real bear cat because of weight to reinstall. Finally cut a nice 4"X10" inspection/access hole from bagwell reached in and slipped that hummer right in. made a nice cover for the hole and hid it with a bagwell surround.(CC should put one of these openings in!!) Put a little poly lube on the spline when it goes together. And make sure to replace the spline alignment bumper.

Re: Motor Removal?
Yes easy, unless of course your motor shaft is rust welded to the axle input shaft like mine was. If it's God Help you!!!!

Re: Motor Removal?
Poly lube is available at any auto parts or even Wal-Mart. Get a small tube or can and just smear it on the spline with your finger. I buy it in small tubes that fit in my hand grease gun. Its a synthetic all purpose high temp and long wear. great for wheel bearings too.

Re: Motor Removal?
You might want to put a thick pad of some kind below the motor area when trying to re-install. If the motor slips and hits the floor on one of the terminal posts you could cause some great stress in your life!! It may not be too heavy for you but I'm a little weaker in my old age for the one arm lifts.
