I am new to Yamaha Gas myself too and been reading up the service manual. I did locate the part number in the manual for oil sensor.

It is
JH2-85720-00-00
JF2-85720-00-00

Here a couple of places that sell this part # but I would not be able to tell you if that the right sensor or if it will work in your yamaha

I'd eliminate it and just check the dipstick.

Not worth the trouble? Would you just unplug the oil pressure sensor on your car just because you actually check the oil? Given the choice of having one more alert system for something as important as oil, i would say yes to repairing it. As far as "is it the right part?", there was no picture on the link i clicked, but the price looked right compared to when i looked it up last week from yamaha.

I would never trust an idiot light when there is nothing better than the dip stick. Don't be lazy check the oil the correct way.

I dont exclusively trust an idiot light either & cant put a mechanical oil pressure gauge. Having a extra method of alert to a problem does not prevent correct operation or use of the dipstick, no one said the light was a substitute for actual maintenance.

That's weird, G9's didn't have a low oil warning system
