I should clarify something. (were in electric ezgo).... You can GROUND to frame on a gas cart but DO NOT GROUND to frame on an electric cart. On a gasser your better off grounding to the negative terminal on the battery anyways. On an electric you run the risk of doing damage to controllers or other components if you ground to frame.

roady89, I understand what you're saying but why don't golf cart have a battery-frame connection?

Voltage spikes, etc. If batteries get a bunch of built up crud on the tops or an acid spill you can get battery voltage to the frame.

Sabercat, read the whole thread and you'll see gassers do.

I thought the main reason to not ground to the frame is that you loose control of the voltage. If you connect to any positive terminal and then ground to the frame you end up with 36 volts (well 36 to 38v). Those front holigen light bars are 12 volts, correct?

Isn't that what a voltage spike is...sorta..... Grounding to frame has also been known to take out controllers.

I'm going over tomorrow to check the dim headlights. Will I need to take the light bar off to get to the bulbs?
