needing some engine mod. help.

im new to the world of golf carts. i have a 02 ez go gas, im wanting to get more top speed out of itwill i cause any valve damage by adjusting the gov. for more rpms? what other mods. can i do for more horsepower? im also going to lift the cart and add bigger tires

You can tweek the gov a little, but be carefull and do not go too far or you can/will over rev the eng.

Putting bigger tires on will actuatly make the cart go faster due to the taller tires. I just put a set of 23 on an 08 RXV Freedom 48V elec and with a GPS unit it went 25.3 mph. Factory was set at 19.8 and having 18x8.50-8 tires.

I hear you can get bigger cams for them, but the only true way to get more HP is doing a BB swap. Go Vangaurd 26hp is need be.

i looked at a cart today that had a 24hp honda. it ran great. the guy that had it did not do the swap his self. how big of a job is it. do you use the stock clutch, motormounts and so on?

Yea, you can spend alot of $$$ to modify a stock GC motor to go.( I know, I'm building a 350)

If you want it to grunt and spin tires the small displacement motors don't have it.
You'll need a BB, it has double displacement and torque.

Ya just cant compare apples with oranges.
In the long run, the BB would actually be more economical and a better machine, hands down. My .02c! tony

There are some cheap mods (govenor, tunig as in carb/ intake/ exhaust)
A 28 deg clutch helps these alot. You may want to try first to see if that is OK. If you have children, I would not give them a big block! (opinion)
