Unhappy 2005 EZGO Cart Will Not Go......

I have a 2005 EZGO TXT that is lifted with 22 inch tires and stock motor and stock controller. Have had cart a couple of days and while driving today it started to shudder on me. When I pulled in my driveway the cart stopped. I waited a few minutes and it started again only to stop again. I waited two hours and tried to run the thing again but it will not go. The batteries are fully charged. When I press the pedal to the floor I do not hear any sounds at all. When I initially put in reverse I heard the buzzer but now I can barely hear the thing buzzing. We just had the cart built and wonder if I may have a bad connection somewhere when they put the cart back together. Please help as I need to get this thing running before my hair falls out. Thx!

CHeck the wires on your F/R switch and the motor to make sure that they are all connected and not burnt. Sounds like a controller failure, but that's not a common issue with the EZGO fleet speed carts that have been lifted...

Do I need to disconnect the batteries or something before checking any of these connections? Also, would the controller show signs of damage? Just not sure what to look for on the controller. I will have connections checked in the morning. Thx.

No disconnect just to look. Look everything over really good. Grab the cables and give them a small tug. If it is a controller, you will smell it when you remove the controller cover. Did you buy from a dealer? If so, let them look at it first.

I bought it from a friend that builds the things and will take to him to give it a glance over tomorrow. Thanks for the help. If it is the controller I was thinking it would need to be replaced to give more torque anyway so maybe this will just move things along.

You should have 4 gauge cables on a lifted cart. I would do that FIRST, once you get it running again. You will see and feel a good torque bump from the cable set (all cables, not just the batteries)

Not trying to highjack, but does it help to replace the cables with larger ones even on non-lifted carts?

Yes. 4ga is all you need. Make your own for less than $40.

Thanks. I looked at mine and that is what I have, so I'm sitting good now.
