Re: "Late 80's" Gas Marathon
Thanks bcm i'm om the way out to the shop now to remove it again. Did use the wire to run through the openings. I've got a set that is used to clean out mig tips and there are some fine wire cleaners on it. Will try this again. Like i said , when i opened it up it was dirty and crusty to be a new carb that i paid big bucks for. No telling how long this has been on a shelf somewhere. Still want to look at the clutch again and see why it isn't closing up like it should. Hope it's just the rpm problem.

Re: "Late 80's" Gas Marathon
yeah, it's really frustrating sometimes, these carbs are pretty bulletproof and consistant when they're clean though (it's just not always easy GETTING them that way, LOL) - with my carb, it seems that the jet inside the bowl retaining nut is usually the one that plugs up (and in your case with crud in the bowl, that's the first place it would settle)

I would say that yours was built in 1986. If you post a picture of your engine, we could confirm that it is a Fuji Robins. EDIT: I just saw that you posted pictures in your other post, and Pachanga has confirmed that it is the original Fuji Robins engine. |
