1983 EZGO, slow running
Working on a friends 1983 EZGO, not sure of model. 2 stroke with premix gas, has new plug and fuel filter. Runs, but is real slow. Was running great at the beginning of the season. Fixed some exhaust leaks and replaced belts. Will not run over 8-10 MOH with the gas mashed, any suggestions? Also just replaced ignition switch with an aftermarket switch, not sure that matters?

Re: 1983 EZGO, slow running
10 mph? that's pretty good for a cart designed to max out at 12mph. Still the very first thing that you do is determine the compression ratio. If you have a worn bore then no matter what you do you will not get it to run faster. I am willing to be that if you use a compression tester you are going to see less than 100 psi which is not good for the 2PG engine.
Let is know what you find. Dave |

Re: 1983 EZGO, slow running
Weird had same problem at the beginning of the season, then it came out of it. Would out run my 96 Yamaha. Then it threw the generator belt, replaced it and now it is a turtle again?
