Help with Golf Cart Charger
My ezgo has developed a problem, at first I thought it was that the manual charger I had was bad. Then you guys came through for me and I was able to repair an automatic 36 volt charger that I had stored away. But then no matter which charger I use, it still does not accept the charge. I replaced 2 batteries, all the cables that were corroded with all new hardware. Now I know that all the connections are true. I even charged 2 batteries at a time with my 12 volt charger. Then as long as the charge lasts it runs fine, but as soon as I plug it in the needle on the manual charger keeps clicking back and forth and does not work and neither does the automatic charger at all. I have checked the othe 4 batteries with the acid meter and also with the battery tester So now I'm stuck. PLEASE HELP!

Re: Help with Cart (Moved from test area)
Last time I saw a charger do that the cart was wired wrong. If it does it on all the chargers then you have something hooked up wrong. Double and tripple check all your connections.

Re: Help with Golf Cart Charger
Do you have a voltmeter? What is the readings on each battery and the pack as a whole? Test where the charger plugs in? Check the polarity of all the battery installations. More info !!!

Re: Help with Golf Cart Charger
check the plug end on the cart i found that if the plug isnt making good connection then the needle will jump like that there might be dirt dobblers in the barrels

Re: Help with Golf Cart Charger
I have charged the batteries and checked them individually two of them were kind of low and I replaced them. I have checked the voltage at the plug and is better than 36 volts. I have checked the polarity on all the batteries and all the connections and still it will not charge with the regular 36 volt charger. I can charge them in groups of twos at 12 volts and then hook it all up and it works fine until it runs out of charge. I need the wiring diagrams for the 93 ezgo I think that is my last resort at this time.

Re: Help with Golf Cart Charger
Chargers need to see around 28 volts to kick on. They vary so they all are a little different.
Thats not the problem....well not his charger problem. Charging until it reaches 36 volts will have a very short run time and battery life. 36 volts is right at 80% of capacity of a "6 volt" battery. You never want to get below 80% of charge capacity or you will start doing damage to your batteries. total...you need to get a diagram so you can check your charging circuit. I would bet money you don't have it wired correctly. Check your polarity on the charging wires leading to the batteries. |
