Unhappy Back Firing

HI ALL !!! ITS BEEN A WHILE SINCE IVE POSTED.
HOPE EVERYONE IS FINE.

i need help with my 244cc robins 2 stroker.
quit runnin on me, now all it does is back fire.
when it does run it cuts out at half throttle (will run ok full throttle)
i thought carb problems but ives cleaned it twice
clean the fuel pump. the pick-up looks good.
got the jug off and got some carbon build up below the rings
would that cause the back fire?

thanks, dew
