Re: HD 3B 1977 D Wire's
On The Solenoid the post next to the +12 volt on the left say's that is ground? does that need grounded and if so were? still not getting the starter to kick in. check all wire and it looks good. did continuity test on them

Re: HD 3B 1977 D Wire's
I have a extra 7hp electric start i think i'll just take everything out and put that in and get a atv transmission and mount it in for reverse. the thing is it ran last summer but it wouldn't engage the motor don't know what happen to it over the winter

Re: HD 3B 1977 D Wire's
A lot of folks have done that conversion but I would think that the effort would be a lot more that getting what is already in there to run.
Attached is a testing procedure that I wrote for HDs / Columbias that aren't turning over. This may help you find where your fail point is. |

Re: HD 3B 1977 D Wire's
i found out the white wire coming from the + on the Solenoid that goes to the fuse and the key switch was bad. i put the old Solenoid 3 post back in and hooked up the + to the right and the black coming from F2 on the starter to the left post and the blue from the micro switch on the middle post and turn the toggle switch on and the starter started to spin even with out pushing the button on the micro switch. so what could be wrong?
i then hooked up the + to the left and the black from the F2 on starter to the right side post then turn the toggle switch on nothing till i hit the button on the micro switch then the solenoid make's a clicking noise but the starter don't spin i think this is way over my head. |
