Priming and sealing after AP
Hey guys, first time here but not first time painter. I do mainly painting on motorcycles (metal flake etc...) and A friend wanted me to paint his cart. So doing lots of research, I found this
Body is new/great shape just wants it black .... boooo Tired to get him to do something custom but he won't Using HOK products Skuff (maroon/gray pad) remove all shine Wax and degrease Spray adhesion promoter (going with bulldog) Now the question is do I need to prime and seal since the body is in great shape? Or can I go straight to base after I wait the flash time on the AP? Normally my methods on metal is prime and seal then base, but this is a horse of a different color. Thanks guys *if you are bored you can check out my paintings at madeucepaint.com |

Re: Priming and sealing after AP
Myself personally I always use the adhesion promoter, some say you can scuff something chemically or manually but I do both with plastic, it is a small price to pay to make sure the paint lasts. You can spray the color right over the adhesion promoter if you want but I usually throw a light coat of sealer on it first to see if there are any imperfections on the body I have missed. Let the sealer flash then do the base right after so you don't have to scuff you're sealer also. Good luck and happy painting.
