How much snow can a cart push?
So we just bought a new house (new to us) and it has a long driveway (250'+). Previous owner used a small Ford Tractor which he was not willing to part with it. So my research has brought me to GCs and my true concern is how much snow willl a buggy/cart push?
We live in Central Pennsylvania, so most snow is less then 6" and lots of times very wet. Due to the nature of the driveway, i believe i would only be plowing while going down the drive and not up. Not uncommon to get larger snow storms, but they are not the normal Most of the research I have done on here shows me it can be done...I just question the amoutn of power, or push power a buggy has? Thoughts? ~Merch |

You might be surprised how much snow it will push or pull. Traction will be your main concern, but they are normally heavy enough to get the job done. Check out this thread:

Here's a video of mine. At the time it was a stock EZ-GO 36v series cart. As you can see it does a good job.
Don't mind my goofy wife narrating. |

All thanks much for the reply. I believe i am over analyzing this, but that is my nature.
Would gas or electric do me better? Do i need a 4 wheel drive unit? ~Merch |

Also before we dropped it off to our customer we plowed our driveway which is very steep and about 500' long maybe longer. We were able to plow downhill no problem, and then once we got some momentum about a 1/4 of the way up the drive way we could plow uphill. As previously mentioned it is all about the traction. We added simple chains that we bought from a local surplus type store and it was amazing where this thing would plow. It is a stock ez go 36volt cart. A gas or electric will get the job done, we prefer electric and for your application I think you would prefer an electric, no gas or oil to fuss with and don't have to worry about the cart turning on and off like with the gas (there are kits that you can add to keep the carts running but why when the electric is simple) Hope that helps. We also attached a couple pictures to show you the stuff we were plowing before we delivered the cart. Chains are the ticket! |
