It's definitely a gas model. I'll post some pictures of it. Thanks.

This is the cart in question. The VIN plate (in first post) is over the left rear axel.

That's a newbie. I think its a 1998. I can't find a chart though so I am going by memory.

8 = year, C = cart

They made a lot of shuttles, utility carts and such in the 90s. 8S would be a 98 shuttle.

Thank you, Sir... you are the second source that says 1998. I'll go with it.
Case closed.

I don't have any VIN id info for 96+ years. I do see the service manual try to describe the VIN info but it doesn't make any sense to what your VIN# is. If you run up on that chart Lochlin, let me know.

Does the cart have a 9hp 4 stroke engine in it?

According to this page: http://bit.ly/1TJCkhe it is a 9hp. Says nothing about stroke. It's a Briggs & Stratton engine, however.

Yea that is a 4 stroke. According to the service manual it says:

First Character:
3 = Power Master System
4 = Standard XP Power System
5 = XP+ Power System
8 = 9 HP Four Cycle System
9 = 13 HP Four Cycle System

Second Character:
C = Classic
D = UtiliDump
E = Eagle
F = Foursome
H = Tram
J = Utilitruck 2400
N = Utilitruck 2400XB
S = Shuttle
U = Utilitruck
X = Utilitruck XB
Z = Ambulance

Third and Fourth Characters are Factory Modifications to Standard Vehicle:
A = 36 volt high speed motor
D = 48 volt power system, 8 6v batteries
E = 48 volt power system, 6 8v batteries
S = Special product modification
W = Front wheel hydraulic disc brakes
X = 4 wheel hydraulic disc brakes
Y = Rear wheel hydraulic disc brakes
Z = Custom carts model

Then 5 Numeric Characters are the sequential Serial #:
Example = 12345

Then Suffix (when used) which would be 1 Letter and 1 Number:
D = 1900 decade
E = 2000 decade

8 = 1998
9 = 1999
0 = 2000
1 = 2001

If you go by that info and your VIN# is 8C-25077:
9 HP 4 stroke engine, Classic model, Serial # 25077.
What about the year? Well looks like they must have not put the years on all of them because it stated (when used). Yours is definately a 1996+ model.

Hmm... is the consensus still that it's a 1998 model? Good to know, however, that it's a 9hp, 4 stroke. Thanks for that info.
