What material is RXV gas tank made of?

What material is RXV gas tank made of? Plastic, polypropelyne, etc? Asking as somehow I got a hole (maybe something chewed into the corner of the tank). Seeing new tanks are ~$400... I think I'll just patch it. What should I use? Some type of epoxy?

Polypropylene sounds right, if so I have found nothing out there that will stick to it. How big is the hole? Is it on a flat surface?

Think you'll have to get creative in an attempt to save it, if it's tiny maybe put a screw with washer in it using some kind of fuel proof sealer/gasket maker. It won't really stick to it but the force of a screw should make it seal like a gasket would, or maybe drill it out and insert a rubber expansion plug. Or screw on a little cover plate with gasket/sealer, just throwing out ideas at ya.... Good Luck

That’s a tough one. I would be careful whatever you use since it’s under your ***! Metal tanks used to get holes pretty often and there were companies that repaired them, sometimes it was radiator repair shops. Newer automotive tanks are made from some sort of plastic. Check out google or inquire at an auto shop?

You didn’t say what year RXV you had but a new tank for an older one is like $125
