Ezgo st grinds gears when trying to reverse.

I have a 2013 ezgo st that has a 13 go Kawasaki engine. About a year ago it started to grind every now and again when I would go to reverse. Eventually it was find its gear and go. It seems to be getting worse and now I almost cannot get the gear to engage at all. If I push it in reverse it makes a loud clicking sound for a couple seconds then the gear will engage and I can reverse it for a couple of feet. Any idea what the issue could be?

Its probably just the shifter cable needing adjustment.
