If you are looking for a simple and easy way of doing something, do with what this guy sayes. He oviously knows more than I do, because he owns his own shop and have been doing it probably since before I was born. When I say simple and easy, I mean what is made for this cart. I can see both sides of the opinion here. By no means am I going to disagree with mikesmotortoys here.

If your looking to save a few bucks, Just know that the headache and more work will probably be tacked on to the difference of the cost. I dont look at it as right way and wrong way. These carts are suppose to be projects. Have funs with it, do what makes you feel is the safest and best for you in your situation.

I do appreciate Mikes help. I hope to get plenty of help from him and others when I get serious on my next cart. Just thought someone might know of another way to skin this cat.

Thanks for the backup here! I will ALWAYS point someone in the BEST direction. My advice is not the cheapest alternative, but the way we would repair your cart if it came to my shop - understand? Our service department wouldn't be as busy as we are if we "jimmy rigged" our repairs...

I think what the member is saying here is "I have this old cart which needs alittle help and I don't want to spend any $ on it because the cart is of little value to start with... Is there a way I can beef up the rear with out spending $100?plus?"

My answer is yes, "Where there is a will there is a way"
Can you weld?

I’ve done it before but it wasn’t pretty.

My plans are to buy a welder soon after I buy my newer cart. My hope is to fabricate things such as brush guards, roll cage, rear bed est. I figure the welder will pay for its self in the long run and it would be more fun for me and my son than just buying certain parts.

Becoming a proficiant welder takes some schooling and alot of practice.
It takes years to have a welder pay for itself because it costs money to run it in electricity and supplies. One cart is not gonna do it... I didn't want to admit it but, I think you are about to get in over your head and quite possibly Mike's advice is best for your situation.

Depends on what you are working on. Which welder I am using. What material I am using up.
