48v Club Car lurches at slow speeds...
This ~10 year old 48v club car jumps and lurches at slow speeds. It runs fine with the peddle-to-the-metal, but trying to "Sunday Drive" or park is painful.
Any ideas appriciated. |

To get help from forum give make, model, year, voltage and if not sure give full serial number under glove box on passenger side on Club Car.

Re: 48v Club Car lurches at slow speeds...
As I posted in my subject, it is a 48v Club Car, I think over 10 years old. The S/N is: A 9634-520615.
But let me be clear, this is not a shudder. At slow speeds, it cuts out completely, then spins a tire in gravel a moment later. If I am on smoth blacktop, and I can hold the peddle steady, it runs allong ok, but if I am on rough ground, prepare for hurk-and-jerk! When the cart has sat a while, and I go out and drive slow, it is smoth, but once I stomp it down and roll along a while, any attempt to go slow is painful. I don't know if it has a pot or a v-glide. Thanks! |

Re: 48v Club Car lurches at slow speeds...
Your cart is a electric 1996 ( A 96 ) and 1996 was a year of change with many different types of controls and variations of controls, series ( F&R lever under right leg ) and regen ( rocker switch F&R switch on top of black box under right leg ) motors and controls with a early and late models to confuse even more? Now we need to find out what speed ( pedal ) control you have? Looking under drivers side seat between the batterys and on top of frame rail if its a "V Glide" there will be a pie shaped black unit mounted with wiring running back to solid state controller. If not look under drivers side floor for a black box affair directly connected to gas pedal with wiring again running up to controller. To further confuse many of the old style under floor units were replaced with more modern MCOR units which would be mounted under passenger side floor?
Once we can narrow down to which control type then repairs or replacements can be carried out. If in doubt I can email you pictures of all three common controls to help confirm? |

Re: 48v Club Car lurches at slow speeds...
Based on your descriptions, I believe it must be a pot. The three wires that come from the "looks like a pot" device physically connected to the accelerator, go directly to the large connector on the controller in the rear of the cart above the motor. There is no device in between.
