48 volt battery meter

No I don't, but I have a analog meter wired on it now.

It looks like a Curtis knockoff (Chinese) meter to me. Curtis numbers their posts 1, 2, 3, 4, not the +, -, R, R.
Are there any numbers printed on the case anywhere?
Where did you get this meter from and can you post a link?

No, there are no numbers on it anywhere. It is Chinese; I got it on E-Bay for half the price most others are advertised for.
I got it installed today. It seem to be working just fine, although I couldn’t get it wired to go off with the key, but that’s ok.

You may want to confirm that it is measuring correctly. I bought one of the Chinese knock offs and the step between lights was so much that by the time you went down a couple of bars the batteries were dead. The charge read full at 48.5v and empty at 42.5v. I gave up on these as being so inaccurate that they were of no value to me.
Lots of places sell them including the vendors here. You will here comments like we've sold hundreds of these and have had no complaints, that's generally because the people buying them don't know what they have or what it is supposed to do.
If you are going to use that meter I would advise you supplement it with a voltmeter as well.

Maybe try this... run + key power to the R terminal? Doug is that how the Curtis went?

It's basically a 2 wire hook up, if you want it to come on and off with the key, the + goes to the key switch and the - goes to the battery -. The R numbers indicate resistance which may be a light or something else. Hard to tell without seeing the schematic of it or laying a meter on it.

I do have a portable voltage meter, Right now it reads 51.4, I'll keep checking.

Your documentation states that the meter will show a full charge at 49.2v, that is a 65% charge so the meter wouldn't even drop to the second bar until the voltage is at 48.44v which is 50% charged.
The bars are in stages of .77v so that by the time you have reached the critical stage of your battery pack of 46.0v which is 10% charged you would be on the 6th bar (over 50% by the gauge) with nothing left.
The recharge area on your meter is at about 42v which is way less than dead.
IMO this thing is useless to you and you should try to return it for a refund and either buy a real Curtis SOC meter or put in a voltmeter.

I had a meter that was similar in it's readings and to be honest, it's of no real value to you as a state of charge meter. I bought one that had exactly the same specs on ebay from a company called invasion motorsports and they cheerfully refunded my money. They had also stated that they had sold hundreds and it was the same one used by BU but it is not the same.
