Re: Voltage drop at charger?
I was thinking about putting a 50 or 100 amp box in the barn. So there's no chance of damaging the charger with 113 volts?

Re: Voltage drop at charger?
Whatever you run run it in conduit for easier replacement.

Re: Voltage drop at charger?
Frick,
Here's a voltage drop calculator: http://www.securityideas.com/howtocalvold.html I'm with Fishing Dude: use conduit to run that wire to your barn, and make it quite a lot larger than the minimum specified. Although you should be able to use 3/4" for 3 #10 wires, I'd use 1". Plastic conduit is preferred, don't use that black plastic water pipe. Whatever you do, don't use direct burial wire w/o conduit. Trust us on this: dunno about F.D., but I've had experience both ways and will never, ever use direct burial wire again. |

Re: Voltage drop at charger?
I will definatly run it in conduit. I have some 1 1/4" conduit from work that is used for placing underground fiber optic cables in. I've been on too many fiber cuts where it was direct bury and that adds about 4 hours to the repair.
jdunmyer: Thanks for the link...I'll check it out. |
