V Glide Resistor coils
Can anyone tell me why my resistor coils get cherry red after just a few minutes of driving. I have replaced almost everything except the coils and the motor. thanks

Re: V Glide Resistor coils
It is the resistor coils job to waste amperage.
Each time you press the gas peddle 100% of the battery amperage comes to the throttle wiper switch. The wiper switch directs the amperage through the selected resistor coil. Coils are selected by peddle position as it relates to speed or power asked for. The coil wastes unwanted amperage by burning it off in a resistor coil. Thus producing the desired amperage to correspond to your peddle position... and turning the coil red with heat. Barbaric at best I know..... after about 1989 all carts started to go to solid state speed control which is much more efficient without all the wasting... just sipping the power when the peddle is lightly pushed. back to your cart ~ Try driving faster |
