Since the OBC is koused in plastic , I doubt it is grounded ( I'm Guessing )

So if you leave everything connected OBC and controller
BUT disconnect the mounting screws from the controller so it is not touching the frame
are U still frame grounded (in case the controller has a dead short to housing ) ?

ok, left it wired and removed the controller from the firewall. Voltage dropped from 49v to 4 v. Are you going to give me good or bad news??

I WOULD SAY THATS GOOD NEWS, SOUNDS LIKE YOU FOUND PROBLEM. On digital meter its not uncommon to have some voltage, but with anolog meter would not show. Now double check each wire connection and plug in on controller to make full elimination.

Some time as OLD MEC said , the devil is in the details. my Digital meters
when showing less than a volt will automatically switch to mV milli volt range
and generally go fro 1 to 9 to 4 to ...etc.

U have to really look at the readout to detect the difference If it is holding at
4 Volts (thats weird) if it changing , it may have switched automatically.

And the bad news is take the cover off and see if U see any burnt of discolored places on controller board or components.

Disconnected one at a time from the controller and when the large neg cable that runs thru the OBC was taken off, the voltage went down to 2. So does this mean the $650 controller is shorted? (anyone got a good used one).
Oh Gleemo, are these able to be taken apart? I will go back out and disconnect it and pull it off to the bench. Do I see the light at the end of the tunnel?

Curtis PMC
Mod 1204-410 Volts 36-48 225Amp

When I shake it, I hear sand pebbles, or pieces of the board in there. No voltage showing with this out, so I hope its most/all the prob.

U R getting closer
I think this is the correct manual for what U said.
There is a lot of on-board and work bench trouble shooting in there.

See what U think, BUT if U open it up and junk falls out then it's a mute point

Moot point, its fried and refried. I have my fingers crossed as to the possibility of more damage after this is replaced.
Thanks goes out to Old MEC, dtkana, sonicj, scottyb and Gleemo. All who have helped me greatly.

Anyone have a good used compatible one?
Should I go with a heavier duty controller with the 22x11-10 tires?
Can someone recommend a better one on the economical side$$$

Looks like they roasted marshmallows in there.
