Curtis Controller trble shoot
Hi,
I have been having a hard time with my CC '96 48v. Full Charge, 50v, changed the solenoid for a new one, when pressing the pedal, it wont move. I jacked the cart, and jumpered both big poles from solenoid, and no go, jumpered negative from batt #6 to the small pole with yellow cable, and no go. F/R wiper buzzes when in reverse, I tested while pressing the pedal, switched F to R, and I can hear the solenoid clicking every time I flip from front to reverse. I took out my controller, took the patience to open it, and no smell of burnt, and took a close look of the Capacitors, Resistors and no burnt signal. Capacitors didn't read resistance, and all resistors where good. What can be causing my cart to still not move!!! I am pulling my hair off!!! I am getting bold!!! The cart its driving me nuts! Any suggestion is highly appreciated! Yamil |

Re: Curtis Controller trble shoot
Did this just happening with no work or cleaning, etc done to batterys, wiring, controls, etc? I am assuming you have a series cart ( F&R lever under right leg ) IF NOT please advise?
For Curtis controller info go to curtisinstruments.com/?fuse...file=1209.pdf Then Go to product, go to motor controllers, go to either series or sepex ( Regen ) and click on 1204 for series, or 1266 for sepex and click on "Manual" for very good manufacturers info. |

Re: Curtis Controller trble shoot
its a series cc. the cart was driving fine, I had it running like for three hours non-stop, all the sudden the cart stopped, and then no more run for me... :( all the wires for batt and motor are clean.
The curtis is 1204 300amp. I believe is stock controller. The potentiometer was replaced a year ago, and the solenoid is brand new. what can be causing the cart not to move? |

Re: Curtis Controller trble shoot
Check the solenoid activation circuit and controller power ~ does the controller pin #1 have power? does the solenoid click? (never jumper the small solenoid terminals = direct short) = probably blew the micro switches? what is the throttle out-put on the new pot? THere are a lot of places to go BEFORE you take the cover off the controller.... that's a bit extreme, no?

Re: Curtis Controller trble shoot
Well, lets say I went extreme, I already took off the controller cover, and no smell of smoke. The solenoid clicks on reverse or forward. The Pin#1 of the controller had power before removal. How do I test the microswitch to see if they are blown?
Thanks for the prompt response. |

Re: Curtis Controller trble shoot
This is the controller test I was talking about yesterday when you called. It sounds to me like you have a bad controller.
Controller output test: Hook the red probe to the B+ on the controller and the black probe to the M- on the controller. As you depress the pedal, you should read voltage across those 2 terminals of the controller. Check the power output from the controller by connecting the negative probe to the controller's M terminal and positive to the B+ terminal. Press the accelerator and watch to see if the voltage increases. It should increase from a reading of 0 to the full voltage of the battery. If the motor is not turning, the problem may be in the directional switch or motor. The controller is bad and must be replaced if there is no voltage. |
