Rearend Shakes Violently
Well, after getting the electrics sorted out on my cart ive got a new problem. The rear in shakes violently in both directions, espically at take off and low speeds.
On level ground (with the cover over the motor and rear axel off) you can see the whole assembly shake, then it sort of finds a "sweet spot" and it goes. (albeit with a feeling of drag). As soon as you take it off pavement or up an incline your toast and loose all power and the rearend just shakes. Im assuming i have a stripped gear. Is there anything i need to know before tearing down? Is there a rear end exploded view available? Is this one of those, it happens all the time, buy this part and your good to go things? 97 club car, electric.... electrically its 100% thanks |

Re: Rearend Shakes Violently
can you jack the rear up and run the cart to see if it shakes? do you have any power when its shaking? maybe stupid questions but want to make sure cause i have seen carts with bad batts that would shake like crap.....................

Re: Rearend Shakes Violently
The rear end only shakes when there is a load to it. Otherwise when up on jacks the drivers side wheel seems to spin with the passenger side occasionally doing so.
It has power, it will move two people in both directions. It just shakes untill you get going (say once you pass 7 mph or so). Then is smooths out and you can go. Of course it really doenst have much in the way of accleration do to the shaking. |

Re: Rearend Shakes Violently
jj be careful as it might be the motor :/
if it is it can potentially explode, sending the windings and casing shooting everywhere :S put a multimeter across armature windings of the motor (a1 - a2) and field (f/s 1 - f/s 2) measure the voltage when its shaking and when its stable, and post voltage levels here ^.^ good luck :) |

Re: Rearend Shakes Violently
I don't think it's mechanical. Mine does the EXACT same thing when the batts are low. Check your pack voltage, and each battery voltage and post the numbers. Thats a lot easier than taking a bunch of stuff apart that you don't need to do.
If it dont sound like a gear, it aint a gear. It'll be battery related. |

Hummmmm well ok, i will put it on the charger at lunch and leave it be. I know my batts are shot, but just wanted everything 100% before i invest money in a new set since im having to rehab this cart as the money comes in.
