Default Fouling (1) Plug on a 02 TXT

My parents have a 02 TXT that wants to Foul the Passenger side Plug.

I went over to take a look and found

All (4) Valves were .004" to .006" so I didn't adjust any of them.
The compression was the same on both cyclinders at ~ 180-185psi.
It now has new plugs but burning differently on each side. NGK - BPR5ES

Should I get all the valves adjusted to .004 or is this likely a ring problem although both sides show the same compression?

Any other ideas?

I have seen different opinons on what the valve spec. should be with TXT saying .004" and others saying up to .006". Just how sensitive is it?

Thanks,
Mike

Just a thought: Since both plugs fire at the same time, could you not switch the wires on the plugs and see if it fouls out the other side? Might help ruling out the wires or coil? Just a thought. Ya'll get me back in line if I'm not thinking straight.

I did try checking the spark gap but have yet to find a spec. distance for these engines. The two carts I've tried don't seem to check very consistently, some times they check as expected others they don't. I'm not sure if that is a sign of a problem or just they way these engines work. My cart (9 needs a new V/R and I thought I would try it again after replacement.

This 02 TXT actually seemed to jump a bigger gap on the Pass side than the driver side.

If the wires are long enought we'll try the swap...

Anyone had any success with checking spark gap on these engines...?

The info on the plugs is in your owners manual, I posted it here for you.
When you say fouling what kind of fouling are you talking about?
does kinda sound like a plug wire or coil problem

Ruredy, Thanks but I was referring to how far a gap the spark would jump not the spark plug gap of .30". Sorry if I wasn't clear.

On a Yamaha Outboad the spark should jump ~9-10mm.
These Robins engines seem to only jump ~5mm

I have a home made tool but here is a link to a commercial version.

Well ok, if the sparks not the same I would guessing somthings not quite right with the plug wires or coil. Did you take any ohms readings like what's in the tech/service guide. I still kinda wonder if the plug is oil, gas, whatever, fouled. You've never said.....
I've seen these systems fire oil fouled plugs that you would have thought it not possible to do.
