Marathon Slipps Belt in Reverse
Any sort of load and belt slips going backwards.
Its a 1990 with 3pg engine. Replaced belt with a new dayco no improvement. Has the heavy duty spring in the secondary clutch and climbs any hill in forward no problem. Thoughts? |

Re: Marathon Slipps Belt in Reverse
Ran with seat off. In reverse on hill Secondary opens all the way as does primary and then belt has no tension

Re: Marathon Slipps Belt in Reverse
Maybe broken motor mounts allowing the engine to move closer to the driven clutch in reverse.

Re: Marathon Slipps Belt in Reverse
Confirmed all mounts are in tact and tight, engine is not moving.
I put the stock secondary spring in and it works just fine in reverse. Did loose torque in forward though (23" tires). Talking to a buddy, he thinks those tangs on the HD spring are preventing the clutch from working in reverse. Makes sense since that spring is from a 4 stroke kart and those clutches only spin one way since reverse is in the rear axle. I talked to this guy and he has no problems to report going backwards with the mod. I copied what he did in this writeup: http://krisdillon.com/buggy/ |
