Default Here I go again!

This is my first day here. Everyone be nice to the new guy.

I have a Yamaha G9 that I picked up this summer. I did the basic "Tune-up" stuff. Now that winter will be coming in IL, I need to tinker. Everything can be made bigger, better, faster, stronger. I have always been a performance junkie (snowmobiles, motorcycle, lawn tractor, etc) and now it is time to tweak the golf cart. I know the clutch is probably a little anemic, and it kills me that Yamaha has the helix milled to the 2ndry. My Snowmobile clutches had removable helixes to give more adjustablity, and the primary is new because I have not had to deal with reverse before.

What are some "must do" things (besides gov adj) that bring this motor to life? I know there are ponies in that motor that don't get used because it was designed to be quiet and go from tee to green. clutching, exhaust, jetting, air, etc.

I have read some posts, but thought you folks could lay out what is commonly done and save me some thread searching time.

Tanks!

Welcome to the forum!!

I started out the same place you are with the same ideas. I finally installed
the 18hp v-twin, best thing I have done. I now wish I hadn't spent all the
time and money on the stock 285cc.

Well, if $ were no object. That motor cost more than I paid for my cart. Plus, I still need a lift, wheels, I am going to custom build a roll cage with a bimini top (like jeeps have) and..and...and...and. Sorry, I almost hyperventilated

The best, cheapest mod you can do to this cart is get the torque spring/spacer only kit and completely bypass the governor: run the pedal throttle cable directly to the carb. You can also get the jet kit and a k&n type filter for a little boost. G9's are great carts!!!!
