Looking for G2 Clutch Ratio
I went today to pick up a salvage G2. The driven clutch pulley is included, but no driver pulley or engine. To calculate my design speed, I am missing one variable - the driven pulley diameter when at max RPM. Or, if I just knew the OEM ratio (driver to driven). It seems to me (with these clutches) that as the RPM increases, the driver actually gets larger than the driven. Do they in fact turn the Transmission faster than the engine turns?
My plan involves a jackshaft that also will likely be oversped. Thank You in advance. Trent |

Re: Looking for G2 Clutch Ratio
I think the primary clutch is 9 inches. Can measure when its gets light .
Think I would look to return it to stock, or big block, as it is a very efficient system. |

Re: Looking for G2 Clutch Ratio
The high gear ratio is 0.9:1 overdrive. The trans is 13:1 or so and with the overdrive 11:1 is very close to what you get (cvt+trans), it should be right for calculating speeds with different tires providing you know your rpm. For example at 5K rpm you get about 30mph with 22 inch tires, I have verified that with gps. This is a G9 which is nearly identical to a G2 except it does not have a rev limit in the ignitor (ignition). Also some tires are taller than others of the same size so it varies. The cvt can shift differently depending on belt wear. Even the distance between the clutches can affect top speed, too far and it will slow down top speed....too little and it will bog off the line.
Actual ratio in the manual: (G2A) 3.2:1~0.8:1 Primary reduction ratio 13.65 differential reduction gear (15.25 in reverse) 270.5mm center to center sheave distance 24.8mm offset 3,400 shift rpm 13.65x0.8=10.92:1 final high gear ratio |
