Re: 1992 GXT-804 Spruce Up Project (Pics)
Also I apologize for posting a picture above that seems to be blowing up the width of this thread, I know how to avoid that in the future but I'm no longer able to edit it. Is there a moderator who could allow me to temporarily edit and remove the large photo above?

Yes , the Harbor Freight compression gauge is not very accurate. When I first came back to my shop three years ago I bought one but I took it back very quick. Some things there are ok but I didn't like that compression gauge. Try to post another picture. You must be doing this from a phone ? |

Re: 1992 GXT-804 Spruce Up Project (Pics)
Well I crossed a few more things off my list over the weekend. Trig, I still owe you a picture of the valves. Will get it at first opportunity.
Here's what I've done so far. - New Generator Belt - New Drive Belt - New (Slightly used) tires (the old ones looked like drag racing slicks!) - New Spark Plugs - Valve Adjustment (Thanks EZGOMike for a great tutorial on this forum!) - New Engine Oil, the old stuff was black and nasty! - Cleaned the oil filter with air per the manual. - New Differential Oil - New Air Filter - Compression Test (looks good) - Battery kill switch - Headlights and Tail Lights work now, Headlights are more than adequate for night driving Here's what I'll be doing mechanically (any suggestions on what I'm missing are appreciated) - New Fuel Filter - New Choke Cable - Troubleshoot all lights, (Got headlights and tail lights working, Just looking into orange running lights) - Procure a new gas cap (I have one but it's missing the float gauge) - Timing Belt replace (eventually) - Alignment (It looks like it just needs a tie rod adjustment) - Sort out rattling and vibration (someone on the forum suggested rubber tape where the bed meets the frame) - Clean and reasonably detail the engine bay (Just get all of the gunk gone!) - New Coil and Wires (eventually) - Re-connect air filter box with black breather box (so I'm pulling in cooler air into intake) Here are the cosmetic/livability items I want to do - Detail cart exterior and apply plastic restore to cowl and other trim pieces - Clean out and re-paint the inside of the truck bed - Make a pad that fits in truck bed for when kiddos want to ride in the back - re-upholster the front seat (items already purchased for this I do my own upholstery work) - Knock out any rust and overcoat with rust killing paint - Find or fabricate a canopy - Install front lap belt - Install a loud novelty triple horn (already have one) |
