Default broke the stud off of the field windings

Is it repairable, and can I do it with some kind of kit or does it have to be done at a cart shop?

It "MIGHT" be repairable. Worst case you'll have to buy a new feild coild assembly. Take it to a motor shop.

Take it to a good alternator rebuild shop or swimming pool motor repair shop. They maybe able to fix it.

I broke one of mine off last year. one of the cables came loose, when I went to tighten it the nuts were so rusted on it snapped off when I tried working it back and forth with WD40. (the previous owner let it sit out a couple of winters)I took the motor apart and soldered a new stud (bolt) back on. been fine ever since.

What kind of soldier did you use. I can't get this to work. The soldier and iron I generally use for micro work doesn't stick.

Use a acid core solder or use some heavy Fluxing agent !

yeah, use a acid or rosin core solder with flux.
I also used a torch not an iron.

Worked like a charm. I used an iron. Seems pretty strong. I ended up going with heavy flux and silver bearing solder. The rosin-core didn't work for me the first time, so I went with silver. I knocked the solder joint around and it seemed strong -- hopefully it will hold up under pressure. Thanks again.

Good to hear others have done this as well, I just repaired a GE motor that had a broken brush stud, used solder, a bolt, tons of acid flux, and a propane torch.
Works like a champ.
