Batteries not charging?
Is the charger being bad the only thing that could cause this? I found a good deal on an EZ Go but the guy says the charger won't charge and he thinks it's because of a bad charger. Thoughts?

Re: Batteries not charging?
It is most likely because it needs $700 worth of new batteries... Take a voltmeter with you to go see it. Charger needs about 30v to recognize the pack and turn on....

Re: Batteries not charging?
They guy did say the cart is mostly charged at the moment and you could drive it around the yard. It would have to have atleast 33V or to do that right? I had planned on sticking a meter to each battery before the purchase. Do you still think it could be the batteries?

And after you check the batteries with the meter it will tell you more about the batteries--post the volts here after you check them,--and you will not get a true readind of the volts if it has just been unhooked from a charger, they need to sit for a few hours before a true reading, -- |

Re: Batteries not charging?
I'm not sure about that unless he had it charged previously, used it a short while, and then tried to charge it to top the charge off. Well, the cart is located out of town about an hour so I'm gonna have to make a decision on the fly. Can you just give me an idea of what the readings will be if they are bad? I figure they should all atleast be close to one another on readings. How low will they be if they are shot? Any idea? I suppose I could check to see if they had atleast 30 volts across them and then try the charger. If they have the required 30VDC for the charger to kick in, then it should just be a bad charger right?

Re: Batteries not charging?
See if this helps---Yes if you got over 30 V the charger should come on, and check for rush around the battery trays, find out what year the bartteries are, Batt- are $ 700

Re: Batteries not charging?
What you are trying to do is have us guess at whether it is a bad charger as the seller says or bad batteries as I say it is ..... Oh there you have it.... unknowing seller say $250 used charger will fix it .... Golf Cart Tech says $700 new batteries will probably get you going but there may be more repairs needed including a new charger..... Not exactly what you wanted to hear but tell the seller until he can prove otherwise...... that's what scottyb says Golf Carts like this are in the $4 - 750 range unless the owner can prove beyond a doubt what the repairs will actually cost ...... don't get antsy about buying this...

Re: Batteries not charging?
10-4. After hearing that I may just let this one go for now. It's out of the way to go get anyway. Thanks for all the help. I'm sure he won't be able to prove anything as you say. Thanks again.

Re: Batteries not charging?
Ok. Thanks for the help. I didn't have 100% good feeling on this one with him saying the charger was bad. It would kill me to spend that money just to find out that I need new batteries and a charger. I'm glad I asked you fellas.
