colt, just scrap the reed switch and run straight from the batts. it is just was a safety feature to keep da's from driving off with the charger attached.

Oh really? So I can remove the magnet to? That would be nice not to have to replace that crap and I won't drive off with my charger plugged in. Lol thanks Jim.

Okay so rabbit and Jim. If I understand this correctly, the red wire will now mount to the positive radsock and just goes back to the controller molex from there. Basically bypassing the reed switch?

well I usually install a short jumper wire in place of the reed switch. The reason is that if the next owner wants to disable the cart, they can simply unplug the connector. On 1 cart I did, we ran the bypass through a remote toggle switch to act as a kill switch for the cart that his kids didn't know about.

what you are saying is the same thing rabbitt suggested with the jumper, i think. i am not positive on a pds cart. do like the toggle switch idea tho.

On a PDS controller, J1-4 needs to be connected to B+ for it to work.
Considering that EZGO eliminated the reed switch in later versions, anything that applies B+ to Pin-4 of J1 will be as safe as a newer cart as long as the wiring in and of itself is safe.

When I get around to installing my ProTech charger, I'll probably break out my molex tools, run a jumper from Pin-4 to Pin-5 on J1 and eliminate the wire going all the way across the cart.

Now that's rocket science right there
