New PQ Bandit getting extremely Hot
I haven't been able to get up with them yet, so would anyone have any ideas is to why is is getting so hot after about 20 min of riding. Series cart with 400 amp controller. Fully charged batteries are reading 6.5 range I know they are a little weak but could this cause it to get so hot you can't touch the motor. Controller only warm to the touch. Thanks for any help

Re: New PQ Bandit getting extremely Hot
The Bandit is a slightly modified stock motor and could get warm.
Need more info: Did you use a digital thermometer? Hot is a relative term, these motors can get up to 200 degrees yet you can't put your hand on things over 110 degrees. What other mods do you have on your cart? Lift? Large tires? What kind of terrain were you riding on? Pavement/Sand? Hills/Flat? How many people on the cart? |

Re: New PQ Bandit getting extremely Hot
If it is a programable Alltrax controller, verify that it is using the correct field map for the modified motor.
Just a guess but worth checking with Alltrax and P.Q. |

Re: New PQ Bandit getting extremely Hot
running 12 in rims on low pro tires. After talking to PQ he gave me a few things to check. tire pressure , connections, batteries, etc. Everything feels and looks fine other that the f\r switch . It's getting so hot it put a blisster on my finger. Wires attached to switch are getting hot also. I'm guessing since PQ told me to check this also that this could be cause the heating issue all the way around. Any opinions on this? Battery cables are 4 g everthing else is 6g

Re: New PQ Bandit getting extremely Hot
Every Cable on the cart needs to be a 4g minimum and the F&R needs an upgrade too.
The PQ motors run the stock field maps. |

Re: New PQ Bandit getting extremely Hot
Upgrade all of your wires. What good does it do to create good voltage through your battery pack and then bottle neck it down to the motor. It makes everything work harder including the F&R. Your factory F&R cannot handle that amount of voltage safely, especially with those little baby cables going to them. Here is a good way to look at it. You like chocolate milk shakes? Well think of it this way. The cohocolate is your battery pack. Your mouth is the motor and the F&R. You have a little coffee stirring straw, and your mouth hurts bad from trying to force the shake through that tiny hole. I hope this helps.
