Hey do think because of using 225 amp controller with a 5,5 hp high speed motor it damaged my controller causing it to have a delay when it goes in reverse. It goes perfect in forward. When the cart runs for a while the reverse engages good but when the cart parks for a while then it hesitates in reverse.

Do u think because i used a 5.5 hp motor with a 225 amp speed controller it damaged the controller causing it to have a delay in the reverse. The controller was on the cart with that particular motor for over two years for rental purposes. The forward works perfect. When the cart runs for a while the reverse works good but as the cart parks for like a couple of hours then it hesitates in reverse. Put on a new heavy duty solenoid as well as a new f/r switch but still hesitate in reverse. Do u think the controller is going in? Thinking of buying a remanufactured 600 amp controller. Any advice before purchasing? The brand is curtis.

That controller doesn't have a clue what direction it's in. It knows no different. It does the same task in forward that it does in reverse. If you've changed your F&R switch and that didn't help I'd suggest checking out the half speed resistor, or bypass the piece of crap. I hate them. Use a small blade fuse to jump the Green wire to the White wire on the rearmost microswitch behind the F&R. This will bypass the half speed resistor. If your problem is gone, either hardwire it this way, or buy the replacement resistor and install it.

Where is that located? Is it on the controller or on the f/r switch.

On the F&R Switch. There should be three micro switches on it. I'm talking about the one closest to the rear of the car... It should be oriented GREEN, BLACK, WHITE.... Jump the green to the white to enable the bypass.

The resistor you are refering to is the microswitch right? I did it and the cart goes in reverse and forward good. Well it cause any damage to the cart? Please

No, the resistor is beneath the microswitch.... Here's what happens.... The Green wire feeds the microswitch exactly what your potbox is putting out. 5K-0 ohms, When the vehicle is in the forward position, it passes that current from the green wire to the white wire via the microswitch. It then goes all the way to the controller, which results in full speed operation. When the car is in reverse, it puts the microswitch in the opposite position and feeds power from the green wire to the black wire, which incorporates the resistor, and passes a "Half-Current" of throttle to the controller. That's why reverse is slower than forward. Your resistor is screwed up, thats why it's not working smoothly. The resistor can be found in the wire loom about 6-8 inches below where the wires enter it below the F&R switch. You'll see the white and black wires merge together under some heatshrink tubing. Underneath this heatshrink is where the resistor is found. The white goes around it, the black goes through it. Past this point they "Y" together and go to the controller as a single wire. It will not hurt a single thing to leave this resistor bypassed. I prefer it this way actually. It will allow reverse to use full power, just as forward does. It's nothing more than a safety feature.
