Default Hour meter on an electric cart?

I was recently looking at a 2004 EZGO TXT PDS cart that had an hour meter under the seat. The person showing the cart for the owner said that he had seen a cart where the part went bad and the cart wouldn't run. Has anybody ever heard of this? Has anyone ever seen an hour meter on an electric cart? Should I be concerned?

I've seen them, handy for tracking use and maintenance just like on a gas cart. Never seen one stop a cart, though. I would be interested to know how many hours the cart has on it if I was the buyer....

yes they are sold by EZ-GO and after market shops

http://www.lvssales.com/store/produc...cat=156&page=1

they are hooked up to the battery pack ( + & - posts) and the meter to the on switched side of the On/Off switch, which gives power to the meter making it mark time

i don't see how the meter would stop a cart from working

The guy probably didn't know what he was talking about or wanted me to buy his cart. He did show me things on his cart several times.

Only way I could see it stopping the cart is if it went bad, shorted and blew a fuse.. Other than that, it should not kill the cart.. I'm thinking baffle them with BS..

I have heard some doozies.. I usually just keep my mouth shut and let them bury themselves deeper and deeper and then hit them with a question about what they lied about..

One of our local Dodge dealers told my bud his water pump was leaking oil..
