Default Help troubleshooting or finding replacment controller 1996?

I'm helping a non-computer literate friend do a little research on his cart. He says it's a 48 volt Club Car that he think is about a 1996 model. I downloaded the steps for resetting the OBC and he tried it with no luck. When you push the pedal down in forward or reverse, you do hear a click, but that's it. It seems power is going in, but there is no power coming out of the controller. Any suggestions? What's the best (most economical) place to get a replacement controller? Anything else I should troubleshoot? Also, I don't know what the actual model # is. Sticker has 3 #'s. IC3645SH4D222C2 and R09 and GC3J. Anyone know which one of these #'s is the model # for the controller? THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY ASSISTANCE YOU CAN OFFER.

The cart uses a standard series control (300 amps or up) The throttle input setting in the control must be 0-5k to match the cart. FSIP makes a good upgrade control if you need one. Test the control first.

set the DVM to 200VDC
put test leads on controller B- and M-
Have a friend press the accelerator (key on, in gear, one rear wheel jacked up off the floor)
When the solenoid clicks you should get pack voltage (48-51v) as friend slowly accelerates the reading should drop to near 0v

Scotty, thanks for the input. A couple questions.
If the jacked up wheel doesn't turn, then the controller is dead?
You mentioned FSIP makes a good controller? Where could I find someone selling those. Does anyone do a core trade in on my old controller or is it just scrap?

Also, does it matter which back wheel you jack up?

FSIP generally doesn't sell to the public, when they do my customers tell me my price is as much as $60 less. That's the way a supplier should treat it's dealers

THere are rebuild specialist but repair is a more correct term as nothing is rebuilt - just whatever is broken now is repaired. Long term results are hit and miss as sooner or later they fail again.

Negative on which wheel. It is what's termed an open differential, power goes to the wheel that offers the least resistance.

Thanks again for the info. So if I raise the wheel, push pedal, and nothing happens, is it safe to assume the controller is dead (if there is power going into the controller, but not coming out?).

Still repaired controllers generally have a poor track record. Spend the extra $ and get a better control. Its money well spent in my opinion.
