Default Batteries

Ok I'm gonna beat a dead horse I just bought a 99 club car ds 48 volt and it doesn't have any batteries but came with the stock charger. So my question is can I use 6 8 volt gel cell batteries with the stock charger or would I be better to use 4 12volt batteries. I can get the 12 volt Trojans cheaper than the 8 volt. Any help would be appreciated also we just cruse this cart in the woods and neighbor hood so no more than 5 miles at a time and slow speeds

Maybe was your auto correct, but the stock charger is not good for gel batteries.

The charger won't work with gel cells. Your best bet is six 8v deep cycle GC batts, and the next best is four 12v deep cycle GC batts.

Ok thanks guys looks like the 4 12s is there really a big difference in run time in the 8 vs 12 I know the 8 will last longer but like I said we only ride the cart maybe 5 miles at a time then it's back on the charger

Well, if you wanted maximum range, go 8x6v. Oh, and BTW, when I had 4 12v batteries in my 99 DS, the frame crossmember had to be cut for it to work. Not sure if you want to do that or not
