Default buying batteries this week

If you were buying 6 - 8v batteries today. Which brand would you buy? I have an 09 RXV with 4 12v. I was quoted for 875's trojan's but want to ask the group before committing.

Also need the conversion tray....best place to get one? my local shop wants $186 for part number 627889 . haven't found that online or on ebay.

The best 8 volt battery out there is the Trojan Ranger 160. Not only is the largest of the Trojan 8 volt batteries (169 AH @ 5 Hour), but with their Carbon Technology makes it the longest lasting 8 volt golf cart battery on the market if you take care of it and do not over discharge it or abuse it.

My second choice would be Trojan Traveler 8V. A smaller version 145 AH at 5 hour rate. Will not have the performance of the Ranger (range and acceleration).

so i thought I had this all figured out and talked to several local shops in san antonio/ austin. The local shops only want to install t875's. Not interested in special orders. didn't even know about other 8v trojan options.
So I figure I'll hop onto the trojan website. looked up where to buy...only to find "continental battery distributors. talked to a guy that wanted to sell me some 875's for a decent price but that's about it. Well these folks haven't even heard of the traveller 8v, or the t 890 or the ranger 160 . it literally was like i called the wrong business. he also put me on hold to talk with all the other shops that were calling him about the battery prices i requested. No one knew a thing. I think I need to open a shop.

I had a shop try to sell me on installing some lithium's...well that sounded cool until $4600 price tag came up....

anyone in south TX know of a shop that can give a guy some battery options???? Anyone?

I feel for you! This is the same thing I am going through. I've called my local market, Kansas City, Wichita Ks, Springfield Missouri. Colombia Missouri, and into St. Louis. All anyone wants to deal in are the T875's and Crown 165's.

Have you tried reaching out to Continental Battery? They are listes as the MASTER DISTRIBUTER for Trojan in San Antonio. Unfortunatly the email address is the same for most of the dealers in the midwest. I have not heard back and haven't made time to try calling them direct.

Fred is DEFINITELY the guy you have to get a hold of to get the batteries. The golf shops just want to sell the 875's which are fine but not for my purposes. He's shipping in some travellers for me.
