Club Car DS electric to gas conversion
I have a 1997 Club Car DS/Elmco Royal Ride that I want to convert to gas. Has anyone ever done this? What is the best way to do so? Any help/tips/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Club Car DS electric to gas conversion
Not easy. Electric gearbox has no reverse since they simply run the motor backwards. Only gas that does that is a 2 stroke. I would recommend selling and buying another cart rather than converting from G to E or E to G.

I have a 1997 gas Club Car I bought for parts to swap the rearend and motor to the electric cart. Not sure if it will fit at the moment, I have some measuring to do for sure.

Re: Club Car DS electric to gas conversion
If there's nothing wrong with the frame on the 1997 gas car, it would be much easier to get that one fixed up instead of swapping parts to the other one. The frame is different and you'd have to modify a lot to make the engine go in the electric car.
