Default Speed Magnet Proof

Hey BGW fanatics,

I'll keep this short and sweet. 2008 Club Car Precedent, 5HP AMD aftermarket speed motor. I put the 4 pole speed magnet from TahoeDave in my cart. The following photos are:

1. Up small incline in he neighborhood, maybe 8 degrees (blue ridge living👍👍😁)

2. Flat (as possible) ground.

3. ~20 degree downhill slope.

If you're thinking about getting one, do it. Pull the trigger. My wheels are 10" but tire height same as stock...

That looks good! (But you did lose your regen braking correct?)

Looks good! The only thing I would worry about is the downhill speed. At 30 MPH with stock tires that motor is screaming. I would be concerned about it coming apart internally. I read somewhere not to exceed your flat ground speed down hill because of that possibility.

30 mph had me white knuckles. I don't ever plan on going over 25, even downhill. Too much risk involved... I feel like a crash at that speed or loss of control would be catastrophic to the cart, and myself as well. I'm just glad to have unleashed the power of the 5 horses on flat ground. I kept the magnet that was OEM to the motor so if it is too unsafe, it'll be placed back. Thanks for he info though!

From reading prior posts I guess that happened to JohnnieB when he was coming down a bridge over the waterway. Thinking it was stated it wasn't so much the speed that got him, but the internal heat that got built up within the motor. As I remember the motor pretty much flew apart. Maybe the heat was really caused by regen braking and not so much rpm's.

Still think a $15 temp guauge with the probe (true) duct taped on the motor is a cheap and easy insurance policy.

Ok I'll bite. Is this sensor a proper type:
DROK Micro LED Digital -55 to 125℃ Temperature Meter Gauge Panel DC 7-30V 12V/24V Temp Tester Monitor with Bright Blue Digital Display and DS18B20 Waterproof Sensor Probe https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00D7AEKMO..._eTZFzb9BJDWK3

Looks like an easy 2 wire install and one of the few that has a long thermocouple wire length.

Also, what is a safe running temperature to know?

I think ScottyB is working on a temp gauge. Maybe he'll chime in.

The reason JohnnieB's motor flew apart was. The speed he was going down hill. He exceeded the max RPM's the motor could handle before it disintegrated
